GB/T 5375-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering how a motorcycle model designation is put together - the manufacturer code, the category, the displacement and the variant, so that a type number identifies exactly one machine in registration and in parts supply. 1 Scope

GB/T 5375-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering how a motorcycle model designation is put together - the manufacturer code, the category, the displacement and the variant, so that a type number identifies exactly one machine in registration and in parts supply. This document specifies the method for designating model numbers for motorcycles and mopeds. This document applies to the designation of models for motorcycles and mopeds as specified in GB/T 5359.1.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 5359.1 and QC/T 792 as well as the followings apply.

3.1 code of motorcycle and moped To identify a vehicle, a number consisting of a set of uppercase Pinyin letters, Arabic numerals, and uppercase English letters is assigned to it.

3.2 code of enterprise (or trade mark) A code representing the name of an enterprise (or trademark).

3.3 code of specification A code indicating the nominal displacement of the vehicle's engine or the continuous power of its drive motor.

3.4 code of power characteristics A code representing the characteristics of a vehicle's drive power unit.

3.5 code of type A code indicating the category to which the vehicle belongs.

3.6 a series number of design A design sequence representing a basic vehicle model - specifically, a vehicle sharing identical codes for the code of enterprise (or trade mark), code of specification, and code of type.

3.7 self-determined code by enterprise A sequential number indicating vehicle modifications, as well as a code used to distinguish vehicle characteristics, series, and similar attributes.

3.8 special-purpose three-wheeled motorcycles A three-wheeled motorcycle equipped with specialized devices, designed to fulfill specific purposes within designated areas.

4 Model designation method

4.1 Model configuration A code of motorcycle and moped consist of a code of enterprise (or trade mark), a code of specification, a code of power characteristics, a code of type, a series number of design, and a self-determined code by enterprise. The structural format is illustrated in Figure

1.An example of model designation formulation is provided in Annex A.

4.2 Code of enterprise (or trade mark) The code of enterprise (or trade mark) consists of two or three uppercase letters that represent the characteristics of the enterprise (or trade mark).

4.3 Code of specification

4.3.1 The codes of specification for motorcycles and mopeds are denoted by their engine nominal displacement. The codes of specification for electric motorcycles are denoted by their motor continuous power. The codes of specification for hybrid motorcycles are denoted by their motor continuous power/engine nominal displacement.

4.3.2 The nominal engine displacement shall be selected in accordance with the provisions of Table

1.When the actual displacement falls between two adjacent nominal displacement series, the value closest to the actual displacement shall be selected as the code of specification.

4.3.3 The continuous power of the motor shall be selected in accordance with the provisions of Table

2.When the continuous power falls between two adjacent values within the continuous power series, the value closest to the actual continuous power shall be selected as the code of specification.

4.3.4 Examples of codes of specification are provided in Annex B.

4.4 Code of power characteristics Vehicle codes of power characteristics shall be selected in accordance with the provisions of Table 3.
