GB/T 40706-2021 defines the booking confirmation message that shipping companies and non-vessel operating common carriers send to cargo owners and freight forwarders in the electronic data interchange of container transport.
It sets the basic requirements for the message, its XML format, with message structure and content, and a platform file format with content description attributes, file structure and record descriptions.
With this message the carrier answers a booking application according to its capacity, route and other conditions and passes on transport and delivery details such as the means of transport, place and date.
The XML message is made of a header, the booking information - vessel data, booking and bill of lading numbers, reasons for refusal - and a trailer record. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.

1 Scope
This document specifies the basic requirements, XML message format and platform for the booking confirmation message used for the electronic data exchange of container transportation file format.
This document is applicable to the application of the booking confirmation message for the electronic data exchange of container transportation.

3 Terms and definitions

4 Basic requirements
4.1 The sender of the booking confirmation message (hereinafter referred to as the "message") is the shipping company and NVOCC; the message recipient is the cargo owner and freight forwarder.
4.2 The shipping company and non-vessel carrier confirm or confirm the booking application of the cargo owner and freight forwarder according to the company's capacity, route and other specific conditions.
When rejected, a message should be sent to notify the acceptance of the booking, and necessary information such as cargo transportation and delivery should be provided (such as transportation method, transportation means, location, Date etc.).

The overall structure of the message includes the message header, booking-related information and tail records (see Figure 1).
