GB/T 35609-2025 is the English-translated version of 绿色产品评价 防水与密封材料.
GB/T 35609-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering what qualifies a waterproofing membrane, a waterproof coating or a sealant as a green product — the requirements on the producing plant and on the product itself, the restricted substances including short-chain chlorinated paraffins and alkane plasticisers, the ageing and water resistance indicators, the flash point and the total lead, the energy and water consumed per unit of product, and the carbon footprint report that has to back the low-carbon claim. It replaces GB/T 35609-2017, under the China Building Materials Federation. In force from 1 November 2025. Issued on 25 April 2025, it has been in force since 1 November 2025, replacing GB/T 35609-2017.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 35609-2017 "Green Product Evaluation Waterproofing and Sealing Materials". Compared with GB/T 35609-2017, In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The terms and definitions have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the 2017 edition);
b) The classification of waterproof membranes and waterproof coatings has been changed (see 4.1.1, 4.1.2, and 4.1.1 of the 2017 edition);
c) The requirements for safety production management assessment level in the basic requirements for production enterprises have been deleted (see 4.2.1.3 of the 2017 edition);
d) Added requirements for the equipment of water metering instruments (see 4.2.1.3);
e) The requirements for the combustion performance of exposed products in the basic requirements for products have been deleted (see 4.2.2.2 of the 2017 edition);
f) Added restriction requirements for “short-chain chlorinated paraffins” (see Table 1, Table 1 of the 2017 edition);
g) Added the indicator values of “low-carbon attributes” and “green benchmark products” (see 4.3.1);
h) Changed the terms “hot air aging”, “water resistance”, “artificial climate accelerated aging”, “water intake per unit product”, and “limit of harmful substances”.
