Scope

GB/T 3303-2018 is the English-translated version of 日用陶瓷器缺陷术语.

GB/T 3303-2018 defines the terms used to describe defects in domestic ceramics, the ceramic ware made for daily use. Its general terms separate flatware from hollowware at a depth of 25 mm, large from small hollowware at a capacity of 1100 mL, and visible from hidden surfaces.

They also set the grades used to judge how noticeable a defect is, from not allowed to very obscure, obscure and not too obvious, based on visual inspection at 500 mm under 300 lx to 500 lx.

Chapter 3 names the product defects themselves, with nine terms added to the previous edition and some English terms revised against British and American standards.

It replaces GB/T 3303-1982, was issued on 15 March 2018 and has applied since 1 October 2018.
