Green Product Evaluation Daily Use Ceramics

1 Scope

GB/T 44982-2024 is the Chinese green product assessment standard for domestic ceramics, the tableware and kitchenware that China produces for the world. The environmental case is the familiar one for a fired product, the kiln energy dominates, but domestic ceramics add a direct consumer safety dimension that a tile does not have: the glaze is in contact with food and can release lead and cadmium, so the green criteria and the safety criteria are the same criteria. The standard sets the basic requirements a product must meet before assessment and then the evaluation indicators grouped as resource attributes, energy attributes covering the firing regime and the specific energy, environmental attributes covering the emissions, wastewater and solid waste of the works, and quality attributes covering the thermal shock resistance, the mechanical strength, the glaze quality and the release of lead and cadmium, each with its limit and verification method, together with the evaluation method and the rules for a claim. It takes effect on 1 June 2025.

This document specifies the evaluation requirements for green daily-use ceramic products and describes the evaluation methods. This document is applicable to the green product evaluation of daily-use ceramics.
