Scope

GB/T 29498-2024 is the English-translated version of 木门窗通用技术要求.

GB/T 29498-2024 is the Chinese general technical standard for wooden windows and doors, covering the whole family from solid timber to laminated and clad constructions. A timber window is a composite product judged on properties that pull against one another: it must be dimensionally stable in a climate that swings from dry winter to humid summer, weathertight enough to meet the air, water and wind load classes, thermally adequate, resistant to fungal and insect attack, and finished with a coating that survives ultraviolet exposure without trapping moisture in the timber. The standard sets the classification and designation, the general requirements and then the requirements proper, covering the timber and the panel materials, the moisture content, the machining and assembly accuracy, the glazing and sealing, the hardware, the surface finish, the physical performance classes and the formaldehyde and other emissions, followed by the test methods, the inspection rules, the marks and accompanying documents and the packaging, transport and storage. It takes effect on 1 May 2025.
