Scope

GB/T 28962-2012 is the English-translated version of 液化石油气汽车定型试验规程.

GB/T 28962-2012 fixes the terms and definitions, the test conditions and the suspension test conditions, the test items and methods and the test report for the approval evaluation test of combustible liquefied petroleum gas vehicles.

Clause 1 applies it to the installation of a special LPG device on a vehicle of an approved type and to the replacement of the LPG engine on dedicated and bi-fuel LPG vehicles, and adds that newly developed basic LPG vehicles may apply it by reference.

The body has six clauses, the scope, the normative references, the terms and definitions, the test conditions together with the conditions under which testing is suspended, the test items and methods, and the test report.

Clause 3 defines no term of its own and adopts those of GB/T 3730.1-2001, GB/T 15089-2001 and GB/T 17895.

Among the test items of clause 5 are the fuel economy test, run in each fuel usage state and following GB/T 12545.1 for M1 and N1 vehicles and M2 vehicles of no more than 3.5 t and GB/T 12545.2 for heavier M2 vehicles and for M3, N2 and N3 vehicles, the interior noise test at uniform speed to GB/T 18697, the braking performance test to GB 7258, the controllability and stability test, required where the axle load exceeds that of the original vehicle by more than 5 per cent and made up of a returnability test, a steering efforts test and a steady static circular test to the matching parts of GB/T 6323, the starting performance test to GB/T 12535, and the reliability running test, to be run on a vehicle test site rather than a conventional reliability test road wherever the site and the LPG supply allow, with the mileage distribution taken from Table 1 or Table 2.

Clause 2 cites a long list of documents, among them GB 7258, GB 19159 on automotive liquefied petroleum gas, GB/T 19239 on the mounting of special equipment for LPG vehicles and QC/T 900-1997.

The published extract stops inside clause 5, so the test conditions of clause 4 and the content required in the test report cannot be described here. It was issued on 31 December 2012 and has applied since 1 July 2013.
