Scope
GB/T 12548-2016 is the English-translated version of 汽车速度表、里程表检验校正方法.
GB/T 12548-2016 is the Chinese national calibration method for the speedometer and the odometer fitted to a motor vehicle, and its clause 1 states that it applies to vehicles of all kinds.
It sets the test conditions, the inspection and calibration method, the way the results are given, and a normative Annex A recording table for the readings.
The measured quantities and the accuracy required of each are listed in Table 1: time to ± 0.1 s, length to ± 0.1 %, atmospheric temperature to ± 1 °C, atmospheric pressure to ± 1 kPa and speed to ± 0.1 km/h.
The vehicle must be brought to normal operating temperature before the test, and clause 3.2 also covers its loading weight. It quotes GB/T 12534. It replaces GB/T 12548-1990, was issued on 14 June 2016 and has applied since 1 January 2017.

Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 12548-1990 Motor vehicles - Speedometer and odometer - Calibration method. Compared with GB/T 12548-1990, the main technical changes are as follows.
- re-arranged the normative references according to the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2009;
- modified "test conditions" and added 3.2 "vehicle conditions";
- deleted test method for "wheel rolling radius";
- deleted 4.1 "calibration method for odometer" and 4.2 "calibration method for speedometer";
- modified Annex A "Speedometer, odometer inspection calibration recording table".
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the calibration method for speedometer and odometer mounted on vehicle. This Standard is applicable to all kinds of vehicles.
