QC/T 838-2010 is the English-translated version of 超级电容电动城市客车.

QC/T 838-2010 is the Chinese automotive industry standard for city buses that run on ultracapacitors (supercapacitors) as their sole or main power source and need no overhead line between stops.

It defines the bus, its current collecting equipment and the electric power receiving board, and sets vehicle requirements: operation from -25 °C to 45 °C, a maximum speed of at least 50 km/h, 0 to 40 km/h in no more than 18 s, a gradeability of at least 12%, braking energy recovery and inter-station charging within 30 s.

Safety, high voltage, ultracapacitor system and current collector requirements follow, with test methods for maximum speed, full-load effective running distance, average energy consumption and exterior acceleration noise.
