GB/T 25026-2017 is the English-translated version of 搪玻璃闭式搅拌容器型式、主要尺寸及基本参数.

China's national standard for the types, main dimensions and basic parameters of closed glass-lined agitated vessels. It specifies the structural forms, the principal dimensions and the basic parameters of one-piece glass-lined steel reaction vessels fitted with agitators. A glass-lined vessel is a steel pressure vessel with a fused glass coating on every wetted surface, and it is the standard reactor of the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries because glass is inert to almost everything: strong acids at temperature, chlorides, organics, and the reagent sequences of a multi-step synthesis that no single metal would survive. The lining is not a coating in the paint sense - it is a glass frit fired onto the steel at around nine hundred degrees, forming a chemical bond, and it becomes an integral part of the vessel. That is also its weakness. Glass is brittle and in permanent compression from the mismatch in thermal expansion with the steel beneath, so it will not tolerate mechanical shock, sharp thermal transients or tensile flexing of the shell, and a chipped lining exposes bare steel to the process with no way to repair it in place. All of that constrains the geometry, which is why the dimensions are standardised rather than left to the maker: the vessel cannot be an arbitrary shape, because the shell has to be formed and fired as a piece, every internal corner has to be radiused for the glass to cover it, and the nozzles, the agitator and the baffle have to be arranged so the lining can be applied and inspected. Standardising the forms and dimensions also makes the agitators, seals, drives and internals interchangeable, which matters for equipment that is bought as a system and repaired over decades. Issued on 29 September 2017 and in force since 1 February 2018, it replaces GB/T 25026-2010.

Foreword
