Scope
GB/T 24354-2023 is the English-translated version of 公共地理信息通用地图符号.
GB/T 24354-2023 fixes the common map symbols used to show public geographical information on maps. It gives the classification of the symbols, their style, the rules for using them, that is positioning, orientation, size, colour and name annotation, and the method for extending them.
Eight normative annexes carry the symbols themselves, for infrastructure, urban and rural public facilities, cultural facilities and institutions, natural landscape resources and ecological environment protection facilities, public safety and disaster prevention facilities, social service and management facilities, basic geographical elements and map annotation, and an informative annex gives an extension example.
The revision widens the categories and number of symbols, adds the symbol orientation rule and drops the legend arrangement rule. It replaces GB/T 24354-2009, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 23 May 2023.
