FAQ for GB/T 21962-2020
What is GB/T 21962-2020?
GB/T 21962-2020, "Corn combine harvester", is a Chinese national standard for corn ear harvesters, corn grain harvesters, corn and straw harvesters, fresh corn harvesters and seed corn harvesters — self-propelled, mounted or trailed. It covers product types and models, safety requirements, performance indexes, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, transport and storage.
When does GB/T 21962-2020 apply?
GB/T 21962-2020 was issued on 19 November 2020 by SAMR and the Standardization Administration of China and has applied since 1 June 2021. It replaces two 2008 standards at once: GB/T 21962-2008 on technical requirements and GB/T 21961-2008 on test methods.
How are corn harvester models designated in GB/T 21962-2020?
Under GB/T 21962-2020, the model starts with 4Y, followed by Z for self-propelled (may be omitted), G for mounted or Q for trailed; then a function code — none for an ear harvester, L grain, J corn and straw, X fresh corn, S seed corn — and the number of rows. For example, 4YZ-8 is an 8-row self-propelled corn ear harvester.
What performance does GB/T 21962-2020 require?
GB/T 21962-2020 requires, among others, a total loss rate of no more than 3.5 % for ear harvesters (4 % for grain harvesters, 3 % for fresh and seed corn), grain breakage of no more than 0.8 % for ear harvesters and 5 % for grain harvesters, a husk removal rate of at least 85 %, stubble no higher than 150 mm, a mean time between failures of at least 50 h and availability of at least 93 %.
Which safety requirements does GB/T 21962-2020 include?
GB/T 21962-2020 requires guards on exposed moving parts, safety signs near picking rolls and cutters, work lamps and reflective markings, a reversing horn and two rear-view mirrors on self-propelled machines, safety glass in the cab, a safe starting device, cold braking distances of 6 m or 8 m depending on mass, and parking on a 20 % slope (wheeled) or 25 % slope (tracked).
What changed in GB/T 21962-2020 from the 2008 standards?
In GB/T 21962-2020, product types, models and basic parameters were added; requirements now cover corn and straw, fresh corn and seed corn harvesters; a safe starting device, diesel engine power and emission requirements, a hydraulic contamination limit and requirements for the header, husking, threshing and stalk handling were added; and the braking requirements, performance indexes and inspection items were revised.
Is GB/T 21962-2020 mandatory?
No. GB/T 21962-2020 is a recommended national standard (GB/T). It refers to mandatory standards for the safety points, such as GB 10395.1 and GB 10395.7 on agricultural machinery safety and GB 19997 on noise limits for grain combine harvesters.
Is GB/T 21962-2020 available in English?
Yes. ChinaStandards.org offers an English version of GB/T 21962-2020, including the performance table, test methods and inspection rules, with invoice.
