Scope
GB/T 20609-2023 is the English-translated version of 交通信息采集 微波交通流检测器.
GB/T 20609-2023 is the Chinese national standard for the microwave traffic flow detector, the roadside device that sends low-energy microwave signals at passing vehicles and reads the signal they reflect.
It sets the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage.
The requirements cover the traffic parameters the detector must report, among them traffic volume, section average speed, lane time occupancy and average headway, together with detection distance, radio frequency performance such as frequency range, occupied bandwidth, transmitting power and spurious emission, the communication interface, synchronisation, power adaptability, storage and operating temperature.
Its annexes give the functional tests, a test record form, the radiation test site and the general radiation test method. It replaces GB/T 20609-2006, was issued on 17 March 2023 and has applied since 1 October 2023.

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Microwave traffic flow detector
By transmitting low-energy microwave signals to the vehicles in the detection area, the microwave signals reflected by the vehicles are obtained, and the road traffic flow is identified and detected. parameter device.
3.2 Occupied bandwidth
A bandwidth in which, for a given emission, the average power emitted outside the lower and upper frequency limits of the bandwidth is equal to the total beta/2 of the average power.
Note: Unless otherwise specified in ITU-R Recommendations for certain appropriate emission categories, the value of beta/2 should be taken as 0.5%. [Source: GB/T 13622-2012, 2.6.19]
3.3 Spurious emission
The emission level of one or more frequencies outside the necessary bandwidth may be reduced without affecting the transmission of the corresponding information.
