Scope
GB/T 20258.4-2019 is the English-translated version of 基础地理信息要素数据字典 第4部分：1∶250 000 1∶500 000 1∶1 000 000 比例尺.
GB/T 20258.4-2019 is the Chinese data dictionary for fundamental geographic information features at the 1:250 000, 1:500 000 and 1:1 000 000 scales.
It fixes the structure of the dictionary and the way each feature is described: feature name, feature description, feature classification code, feature attribute table, geometric representation, representation example and feature relationship.
It also states what the feature data dictionary must contain and the principles for extending it, and gives the dictionary itself in Annex A. It applies to the production, construction, design, updating and maintenance of basic geographic information databases at these scales, and the analysis and application of such data may refer to it.
Part 4 of GB/T 20258, it cites GB/T 13923 and GB/T 20257.4. It replaces GB/T 20258.4-2007, was issued on 25 March 2019 and has applied since 1 October 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 20258 "Basic Geographic Information Element Data Dictionary" is divided into the following four parts.
--- Part 1. 1.500 1.1000 1.2000 scale;
--- Part 2. 1.5000 1.10000 scale;
--- Part 3. 1.25000 1.50000 1.100000 scale;
--- Part 4. 1.250000 1.500000 1.1000000 scale.
This part is the fourth part of GB/T 20258.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 20258.4-2007 "Basic Geographic Information Elements Data Dictionary Part 4. 1.250000 1.500000 1.10000000 Basic Geographic Information Element Data Dictionary.
Compared with GB/T 20258.4-2007, the main technical changes in this part are as follows.
--- Added the expression "relationship description" (see 4.8.2).
---Element data dictionary feature attribute table has added the "data source and data update date" attribute item, geometric representation of the attribute column in the table The "data source and update date" has been added accordingly.
--- Added 16 elements. culvert; venting torch; aquaculture farm; greenhouse, greenhouse; village road; light rail; elevated road; wildlife pass Road; port; territorial sea baseline, territorial sea base; pit; wind and sand fixed square; mudslide; soil ridge; fire zone. Expanded its classification Code, definition, attribute items and corresponding table contents.
--- Change the data type and value range of all feature data sources from "character 10" to "character 60".
--- Deleted the elements of the Ming Reef.
--- The description of some elements has been modified and improved, such as satellite positioning continuous operation site, internal profile, island.
--- The inner and longitude feature data dictionary has the longitude and latitude attributes removed.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 20258 specifies 1.250000, 1.500000, 1.1000000 basic geographic information element data dictionary The description of the content structure and elements.
This section applies to the production and construction of the basic geographic information database of 1.250000, 1.500000, 1.1000000 scale.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Entity
A phenomenon in the real world.
Note: Entities cannot be subdivided into the same type of phenomenon.
3.2 Feature
The abstraction of real world phenomena.
Note: An element can appear as a type (such as a lake) or as an instance (such as Dongting Lake). [GB/T 17694-2009, definition B.179]
3.3 Feature attribute
The characteristics of the feature.
Note 1: A feature attribute may appear as a type or an instance. When there is only one meaning, either use the feature attribute type or use the feature Attribute instance.
Note 2: A feature attribute should have a name, a data type, and a range of values associated with it. The feature attribute of a feature instance should have a genus obtained from the value range Sex value. [GB/T 17694-2009, definition B.181]
