Scope
GB/T 18826-2016 is the English-translated version of 工业用1,1,1,2-四氟乙烷(HFC-134a).
GB/T 18826-2016 governs industrial 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, also designated HFC-134a or R134a, and fixes its requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage as well as safety.
Clause 1 states that it applies to industrial 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and records the molecular formula C2H2F4 and a relative molecular mass of 102.04 based on the 2011 international relative atomic masses.
Clause 3 sets the requirements, describing the product as a colourless transparent liquid free of visible solid particles and placing the numerical specification in Table 1.
The foreword shows how that specification changed from the previous edition, with a halogenated unsaturated hydrocarbon index added for the superior grade and set at 0.0040 %, the 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane mass fraction restated from 99.9 % to 99.90 % and the evaporation residue tightened from 0.01 % to 0.005 % for that grade, while for the qualified grade the content was restated from 99.5 % to 99.50 % and the moisture index tightened from 0.005 % to 0.001 %.
The same foreword records that the test method for the properties ("traits") was modified, that the chromatographic operating conditions, the quantification method and the typical chromatograms used to determine the tetrafluoroethane content were reworked together with Appendix A, that the test methods for moisture, chloride and non-condensable gases now refer to general method standards, that type inspection and factory inspection were revised, and that a safety chapter was added as clause 7.
Its normative references include GB 190 and GB/T 191 on dangerous goods and packaging marks, GB/T 601 and GB/T 603 on reagent solutions, GB/T 6681-2003 on sampling gaseous chemical products, GB/T 7373-2006, GB/T 7376-2008 on trace moisture in industrial fluorinated methanes, GB/T 8170 on rounding and limit values, GB/T 9722 on gas chromatography reagents, GB 14193 on filling liquefied gas cylinders, GB/T 31401-2015 on chloride determination and TSG R4002 on filling permits for mobile pressure vessels.
It was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, is administered by the Organic Chemical Subcommittee of the National Chemical Standardization Technical Committee as SAC/TC63/SC9, and falls under ICS 71.080.20 and Chinese standard class G17, with Zhejiang Quhua Fluorine Chemical Co., Ltd. among its main drafting units.
It replaces GB/T 18826-2002, the first edition of 2002, was issued on 2016-10-13 and has applied since 2017-05-01.

Foreword
This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 18826-2002 "Industrial 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a)", and GB/T 18826-2002 In addition to editorial changes, the main technical differences are as follows.
--- modified the description of "traits" (see 3.1, 2002 edition 3.1);
- excellent product additional halogenated unsaturated hydrocarbon index, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane mass fraction from 99.9% to 99.90%, halogen The unsaturated hydrocarbon index is set to 0.0040%, the evaporation residue index is changed from 0.01% to 0.005%; the qualified product 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoro Ethylene content was changed from 99.5% to 99.50%, and the moisture index was changed from 0.005% to 0.001% (see 3.2, 2002) Of 3.2);
- a modified test method for traits (see 4.1.2, 2002, 4.1);
- modified chromatographic operating conditions for the determination of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, quantitative methods and typical chromatograms (see 4.3 and appendix A, 2002 edition 4.2 and appendix A);
- Test methods for moisture, chloride and non-condensable gases are referred to as general method standards (see 4.4, 4.7 and 4. 8, 2002) 4.4, 4.7 and 4.6);
- Modification of type inspection and factory inspection (see 5.1, 2002, 5.1 and 5.2);
--- Added security chapter (see Chapter 7).
