Scope
GB/T 18033-2017 is the English-translated version of 无缝铜水管和铜气管.
GB/T 18033-2017 covers seamless copper tubes used as water pipes and gas pipes, normally joined by welding, flaring or crimping.
It gives the grades, tempers and sizes, the chemical composition under GB/T 5231, the tolerances on diameter, wall thickness, length, straightness, end squareness and roundness, the mechanical properties, the grain size of annealed tubes and the flaring, flattening and bending tests.
Every tube must pass a hydrostatic, air pressure or eddy current test, and Annex A gives a qualitative method for detecting a carbon film on the inner surface. It also sets the inspection rules, the permanent marking and the colour-coded durable marking of type A, B and C water tubes and of gas tubes, and what an order must state.
It replaces GB/T 18033-2007, was issued on 12 July 2017 and has applied since 1 April 2018.

Appendix A (normative appendix) Qualitative detection method for carbon film on inner surface of copper tube
A.1 Scope
This appendix specifies the qualitative detection method for the carbon film on the inner surface of copper tubes.
This appendix applies to the detection of carbon film on the inner surface of copper tubes.
A.2 Method summary
The copper tube sample was treated with a 25% aqueous solution of nitric acid at room temperature, and the inner surface of the copper tube was determined by observing whether or not a film-like substance was formed on the surface of the acid liquid. Whether there is a carbon film on the surface.
A.3 Sample
Take a sample tube with a length of not less than 25 mm.
A.4 Test procedure
A.4.1 Preparation of samples
The outer surface of the pipe sample used for the test shall be cleaned, and the wear marks caused by the metal chips shall remove or eliminate all traces of the surface of the original pipe.
Chemically, one end of the nozzle can be plugged with an acid-resistant stopper, immersed in a nitric acid solution, then washed with deionized water and dried.
The sample tube is cut into two test pieces in the longitudinal direction with a clean saw blade, and the test piece should have a surface size larger than 22 mm × 1 mm, and The sample block was degreased with acetone.
A.4.2 Treatment of samples
Place the degreased sample block into a small flat bottom porcelain plate or glass plate with the inner surface of the sample facing up and add at room temperature. 25% (volume fraction) of nitric acid, submerged the sample block.
Nitric acid will float the surface of the sample. When the acid turns blue, the sample block should be taken out and rinsed with deionized water and returned to acid.
Wash any small substances on the sample block in the liquid.
A.5 Determination of carbon film
The reaction of the sample block in acid was observed using a 10x magnifying glass. Observation will assess the reaction of the material in the acid.
a) If no phenomena are found, or only tiny substances are seen, it is determined that there is no carbon film.
b) If it is clear that a film floats on the surface, it may be a carbon film or an oxide film.
c) In order to distinguish between carbon film and oxide film, the porcelain plate or glass plate should be slowly heated to boil the acid for about 5 minutes. As in the re In the heating test, when the film was decomposed or only a small substance remained, it was judged to be an oxide film. If the film does not change, then determine It is a carbon film.
