Scope
GB/T 11835-2016 is the English-translated version of 绝热用岩棉、矿渣棉及其制品.
China's national standard for rock wool, slag wool and the products made from them for thermal insulation - the boards, slabs, blankets, pipe sections and loose wool that insulate buildings, boilers, ducts, tanks and process pipework, and that also provide the fire protection those applications need. The material is spun from molten rock or from blast furnace slag, which makes it non-combustible, stable at high temperature and dimensionally durable - and is why it is used where organic foams cannot be. It specifies the terms and definitions, the classification and marking, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of rock wool, slag wool and their products. The requirements are the ones an engineer specifies and the ones that determine whether the installed insulation works: the density, which governs everything else; the thermal conductivity at the mean temperatures the product will see, given across the range rather than at a single point, because a product used on a hot line and one used in a cavity wall are being asked different questions; the maximum service temperature; the compressive strength and the tensile strength perpendicular to the faces, which decide whether a board can be walked on and whether a facing will pull off; the dimensional stability at temperature and the shrinkage; the fibre diameter and the shot content, which is the unmelted material left in the wool and the main determinant of how much of the product is actually insulating; and the acidity coefficient, which predicts the durability of the fibre. To those are added the water absorption and the hydrophobicity - a wet mineral wool conducts heat far better than a dry one and dries very slowly inside a lagging - the combustion behaviour, and the corrosion of steel in contact, since the chlorides and sulfates in the product can attack stainless pipework under insulation. Issued on 13 October 2016 and in force since 1 September 2017, it replaces GB/T 11835-2007.

Compared with GB/T 11835-2007, except Editorial changes to the main technical changes are as follows: - modified the scope of application of the standard, increased the scope of the standard does not apply (see Chapter 1,.2007 edition of Chapter 1);
--- Removal of rock wool belt, slag cotton belt, rock wool veneer, slag cotton veneer terms, an increase of rock wool veneer products, slag cotton veneer Products, sewing mats, heating line shrinkage terms (see 3.1, 3.2, 3.3,.2007 edition 3.1, 3.2); - modified product classification (see 4.2,.2007 4.2);
--- Increases the acidity coefficient and heating line shrinkage requirements of rock wool products and slag cotton products (see 5.2.1); - modified the average fiber diameter and slag content (particle size greater than 0.25mm) requirements for cotton and fabric (see Section 5.2.2,.2007) 5.1); - the requirement to increase the density and thermal conductivity of cotton, increase the cotton acidity coefficient and the heating line shrinkage requirements (see 5.2.3,.2007 Year edition 5.2); - increased quality requirements for veneer and veneer (see
5.2.4.1 and 5.2.2.1.1,.2007,
5.3.1 and 5.6.1);
--- modified the format of the form (see Table 2 ~ Table 8,.2007 Table 2 to Table 4, Table 6 to Table 10); - the length, width and thickness of the plates, felt and felt are removed (see Table 2 and Table 4,.2007 Table 2 and Table 6);
--- to modify the board to allow the size of the deviation (see Table 2,.2007 Table 2);
--- modified the minimum density and density allowable deviation, thermal conductivity, combustion performance and other indicators (see Table 3, Table 5 and Table 8,.2007 Table 3, Table 7 and Table 10);
--- increase the rigid requirements of the board (see Table 2); - the removal of the products and their requirements (2007 edition 5.4); - modified the suture pitch of the felt, the "opening length" was changed to "the maximum opening length" (see Table 6,.2007 Table 8); - remove the length of the shell, modify the thickness and diameter range (see Table 7,.2007 Table 9); - modified the requirements for mass moisture absorption and water absorption (see 5.3.1,.2007, 5.7.2); - modified the maximum use temperature assessment requirements (see 5.3.2,.2007 edition 5.7.3); - modified the requirements for covering austenitic stainless steel (see 5.3.3.2,.2007, 5.7.1.2); - modified the presentation of the test method to the terms (see
6.2 to 6.18,.2007, 6.2); - Removed Appendix D "Sewing Quality Test Method", which is moved to the text (see Appendix 13 of the 13th edition,.2007); - delete the appendix F "test items, sampling plans and decision rules" and move them into the text (see appendix F of
7.1 and 7.3,.2007); - B.1 has been removed from Appendix B and the test procedure has been modified (see Appendix B, Appendix B of the.2007 edition); - the contents of C.1 in Appendix C have been deleted and the contents of C.3, C.4 and C.5 have been modified (see Appendix C, Appendix C of the.2007 edition); - Added Appendix E "Test Method for Heating Line Shrinkage" (see Appendix E).
