Scope

GB/T 11763-2008 is the English-translated version of 棉籽.

GB/T 11763-2008 is the Chinese national product standard for cotton seed, and it applies to the commercial seed processed and delinted from cotton seed for oil production.

It grades the seed by oil content and covers the quality and hygienic requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, labelling and marking, and packaging, storage and transport, each determination being referred to a GB method: sampling and sample reduction, oil content, impurity content, moisture and volatile matter, and the identification of colour and odour.

An inspection lot is seed of one type, one origin, one harvest year, one transport unit and one storage unit, and seed whose oil content falls below grade 5 while its other indicators still meet the table is judged off-grade.

It replaces GB 11763-1989, was issued on 4 November 2008 and has applied since 20 January 2009.

1 Scope

This Standard specifies the relevant terms and definitions, quality requirements and hygienic requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labeling, marking, as well as packaging, storage and transportation requirements for cotton seed.

This Standard applies to the commercial cotton seeds that are processed and delinted from cotton seeds for oil production.

4.2 Hygienic requirements

Carry out in accordance with GB19641 and relevant national standards and regulations.

4.3 Plant quarantine

Carry out plant quarantine items in accordance with relevant national regulations.

5.5 Determination of moisture content: follow GB/T 14489.1

5.4 Determination of content of impurities: follow GB/T 14488.2

5.3 Identification of color and odour: follow GB/T 5492

5.2 Determination of oil content: follow GB/T1 4488.1

6 Inspection rules

6.1 The general rules for inspection shall be implemented in accordance with GB/T 5490.

6.2 The inspection lot shall be cotton seeds of the same type, the same origin, the same harvest year, the same transport unit and the same storage unit.

6.3 Determination rules: The oil content of cotton seeds shall meet the requirements of the corresponding grades in Table 1, and other indicators shall be implemented in accordance with relevant national regulations. Cotton seeds with an oil content lower than Grade 5 and other indicators meeting the requirements of Table 1 shall be determined as off-grade cotton seeds. […]
