Mechanical safety requirements cover guards on moving parts, insulation resistance of at least 0.5 MOmega, safety valves acting at no more than 1.2 times the rated pressure, manhole sizes, ladders and platforms, a noise limit of 85 dB and clearances from floor and wall.
Special requirements follow for milk storage tanks, milk pumps and homogenizers, heat exchangers, vacuum evaporators, freezing equipment, flow and level instruments, milk powder sieves and rollerless butter churns.
