Scope
GB 8771-2007 is the English-translated version of 铅笔涂层中可溶性元素最大限量.
GB 8771-2007 is the mandatory Chinese national standard that fixes maximum limits for the soluble elements contained in pencil coating. It covers the limits set for soluble antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury and selenium, the test methods used to determine them, and the quality assurance provisions attached to those limits.
Its scope takes in every kind of coated graphite pencil and coloured pencil. The standard quotes GB 6675, and it carries the Chinese classification C56. It supersedes GB 8771-1988, which dealt only with the lead content of pencil coating. Issued on 26 June 2007, it has applied since 1 January 2008.
