GB 45189-2025 is the English-translated version of 氰化物安全生产管理规范.
GB 45189-2025 is the mandatory Chinese national standard on work safety management in enterprises that produce cyanide, meaning sodium cyanide and potassium cyanide as solids or aqueous solutions.
Its general requirements cover plant layout and fire protection codes, design qualifications, external safety distances and individual and societal risk for new and expanded projects, trial runs, the dual prevention mechanism for risks and hidden hazards, management of highly toxic chemicals, contractors, special work, abnormal operating conditions and major hazard installations.
Among the specific rules: work where hydrogen cyanide gas can be generated needs at least two operators, one of them supervising, with portable toxic gas detectors carried on site, and every cyanide package must carry a QR code or electronic tag with product, manufacturer, hazard and emergency information.
Further clauses set requirements for production safety, storage safety and emergency rescue, with normative annexes on the first-aid medicines, equipment and instruments to be provided and on emergency response measures.
