Scope
GB 20813-2006 is the English-translated version of 农药产品标签通则.
GB 20813-2006 specifies the basic principles for designing and producing pesticide product labels, the basic content a label must carry and other label requirements; it applies to commercial pesticide products for sale in China, imports included, but not to export pesticides or to transgenic crops and natural-enemy biological products.
It defines pesticide label, container, common name, trade name, preharvest interval and shelf life, and requires label content to be lawful, truthful, consistent with the registration and easy to understand.
Mandatory content covers the product name and active ingredient content and formulation, registration and production licence numbers, scope of use and dosage, net content, shelf life in one of three forms, toxicity mark, precautions including preharvest interval and first aid, storage and transport, producer details, a category colour band at the foot of the label (green herbicides, red insecticides, black fungicides, dark yellow plant growth regulators, blue rodenticides) and black-and-white safety pictograms shown in Figure 1.
Further requirements deal with attachment and durability of labels, layout, use of standard Chinese characters, repackaged products and one label per product and pack size; all technical content is mandatory.
