Scope

GB 19193-2015 is the English-translated version of 疫源地消毒总则.

GB 19193-2015 sets out the requirements, the disinfection principles and the evaluation of the effect of disinfection for infectious foci, and applies to the disinfection of the foci of all kinds of infectious diseases.

It defines infectious focus, concurrent and terminal disinfection, and requires a kill rate of natural bacteria of at least 90% on surfaces and in air, with no pathogenic or target microorganisms detectable in treated excreta, secretions and blood; hospital practice is tied to GB 15982-2012 and waste water to GB 18466.

The core of the standard gives disinfection principles by disease class: for plague and cholera (Class A), the chlorine, bromine and peracetic acid concentrations, dosages and contact times for rooms, air, utensils, excreta, food, drinking water, sewage and corpses; for Class B and C diseases, separate provisions by route of transmission (digestive tract, respiratory tract, skin and mucous membranes), including incineration of anthrax carcasses and treatment of animal pens.

Normative annexes give the working procedure for terminal disinfection and the evaluation of disinfection effect; informative annexes cover prion-contaminated materials and a record form for disinfection work.

It replaces GB 19193-2003, revising the hygiene requirements for concurrent and terminal disinfection and the principles by disease class and adding the prion and record-form annexes.

Foreword

The technical content of this standard is mandatory, with the exception of 5.1.1.7, Annex B and Annex D.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB 19193-2003 General principle on disinfection for infectious focus. Compared with GB 19193-2003, the main technical changes are as follows:

- the hygiene requirements for concurrent disinfection have been modified;

- the hygiene requirements for terminal disinfection have been modified;

- the principles for disinfection treatment of the infectious foci of the various classes of infectious diseases have been modified;

- Annex B "Treatment of prion-contaminated materials" and Annex D "Record form for terminal and concurrent disinfection work at epidemic sites" have been added, and the former Annex B has become Annex C.

This standard was proposed by and is under the jurisdiction of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China.
