Scope
GB 15365-2025 is the English-translated version of 摩托车和轻便摩托车操纵件、指示器及信号装置的图形符号.
GB 15365 fixes the graphical symbols that appear on the controls, indicators and tell-tales of motorcycles and mopeds - the pictograms for lights, indicators, horn, choke, fuel, engine and brake warnings - together with the requirements for their form, size, contrast and placement. It is what makes an unfamiliar machine readable to a rider, and it is mandatory for vehicles sold in China. Issued on 30 May 2025, in force since 1 January 2026, replacing GB 15365-2008. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the edition it replaces are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are not reproduced on this page - they are in the document itself, which is delivered in full in English translation.

This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Directives for standardization - Part
1.Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents". This document replaces GB 15365-2008 "Symbols for controls, indicators and telltales for motorcycles and mopeds". Compared with GB 15365-2008, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows: - MODIFY the definition of "control", clarify it as a manually operated component (see
3.1 of this document,
2.1 of the 2008 edition); - MODIFY the definition of "indicator", delete the form of representation (see
3.2 of this document,
2.2 of the 2008 edition); - MODIFY the definition of "tell-tale", delete the audible signal (see
3.3 of this document,
2.3 of the 2008 edition); - ADD the terms "symbol" and "common space" and their definitions (see
3.5 of this document); - ADD the requirement that multi-function devices be allowed to share one symbol when combined (see
4.1.2 of this document); - ADD the requirement for common spaces used to display multiple types of information (see
4.1.3 of this document); - ADD the requirement that the symbols specified in this document be explained in the instruction manual (see
4.1.5 of this document); - MODIFY the position and display requirements for symbols for indicators and tell- tales (see
4.2 of this document,
3.1 of the 2008 edition); - ADD the requirement for the color used for system heating/cooling (see

3.3 tell-tale A light signal that, when illuminated, indicates the activation of a device on a motorcycle, or the normal or inoperative function of a motorcycle or its components, or a functional malfunction.
3.4 symbol A visual graphic used to identify controls, indicators and tell-tales.
3.5 common space An area where two or more corresponding symbols for indicators or tell-tales or other information may be displayed asynchronously.
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Symbols for controls and tell-tales shall have a clear contrast with the background color to ensure visibility. The coating (plating) shall be permanently durable and shall not be easily removed by fingers.
4.1.2 When controls, indicators or tell-tales with the same function are combined, they may share one symbol.
4.1.3 Common spaces used to display multiple information shall meet the following requirements.
a) When two or more tell-tales are activated, the information shall be automatically repeated in sequence, or the driver may select which information to view;
b) Tell-tales indicating anti-lock braking system failure, high beam or turn signal lights shall not be displayed in a same common space;
c) If any of the tell-tales indicating anti-lock braking system failure, high beam or turn signal lights are displayed in a common space, their activation sequence shall take precedence over any other information;
