GB/T 24931-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering where the lamps go on an all-terrain vehicle and how many — the mounting height, position and geometric visibility of each device, the reference axis and its tolerance of plus or minus 3 degrees, the vertical inclination of the dipped beam and how it is measured, the daytime running lamps and the courtesy lamps, the permitted light colours, and the same-type judgement that decides whether a variant needs retesting. It replaces GB/T 24931-2010. In force from 1 November 2025. Issued on 25 April 2025, it has been in force since 1 November 2025, replacing GB/T 24931-2010.

a) Added the term and definition of "step light" (see 3.2);

b) Add the vertical inclination requirements and measurement methods for the dipped beam headlights (see 5.2.5.2);

c) The installation conditions of some lamps have been changed (see Table 1, Table 1 of the 2010 edition);

d) The number of lamps installed, the number of brake lights, the number of side reflectors, etc. have been changed (see Chapter 5);

e) Added the installation requirements for daytime running lights (see 5.14);

f) The illustrations of the definition of the luminaire surface, reference axis, reference center and collective visibility angle have been deleted (see Appendix A of the 2010 edition);

g) The horizontal angle of geometric visibility of turn signal lamps has been deleted (see Appendix C of the 2010 edition);

h) Added the environmental requirements for automatic switching of low beam headlights (see Appendix B);

i) Added the requirements for the configuration and light color of all-terrain vehicle lamps (see Appendix C);

j) Added the calculation method of the vertical inclination of the near-brightness cut-off line and the inclination of the center of the ADB maximum illumination area (see Appendix D);

k) The apparent surface observation area of the step lights has been increased (see Appendix E).

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB 4785, GB/T 24936 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Overall width

The distance between two planes parallel to the longitudinal plane of the vehicle and in contact with the vehicle.

Note. Except for the rearview mirrors, all fixed parts and lateral projections of the vehicle are between these two planes.

3.2 Exterior courtesy lamp

A lamp that provides auxiliary lighting for vehicle drivers and passengers when getting on or off the vehicle or loading and unloading cargo.

4 General requirements

4.1 The installation of lighting and light-signaling devices shall, under normal use, comply with the requirements of this document for each device and even if they are subject to vibration. Vehicle requirements.

4.2 The installation of lighting devices should facilitate the correct adjustment of their aiming.
