This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document replaces GB 12899-2018 "General Technical Specifications for Handheld Metal Detectors". Compared with GB 12899-2018, except for the following.
Aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
--Scope has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2018 edition);
Chapter 3 (Chapter 3 of the.2018 edition);
--The term "detection method" and its definition have been removed (see 3.10 in the.2018 edition).
--The requirements for the power supply (see 4.4,.2018 version) and testing (see 5.6,.2018 version) have been changed.
--Basic detection functionality has been changed (see 4.5, version 4.5 from.2018).
--The detection sensitivity range has been changed (see 4.6.1,.2018 version of 4.6.1).
--The headphone jack content has been removed (see version 4.7.3 in.2018).
--Added alarm vibration (see 4.7.3);
--The requirements for electrostatic discharge immunity (ESD immunity) have been changed (see 4.12.1,.2018 version) and the testing (see 5.14.1,.2018 version).

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Handheld metal detector
A handheld metal detector that can detect metal items that meet or exceed a certain limit.
3.2
positive alarm
When the detector detects a metal object that reaches or exceeds a certain limit, it will issue an alarm signal with a specified sound, display, or vibration.
3.3
Missed alarm failure
The detector did not alarm when the quantity of metal objects reached or exceeded the limit.
