Scope
GB 12791-2006 is the English-translated version of 点型紫外火焰探测器.
GB 12791-2006 specifies the general requirements, requirements and test methods, inspection rules and marking of point type ultraviolet flame detectors with a wavelength range below 300 nm installed in general industrial and civil buildings; detectors with special performance for other environments also follow it, apart from that special performance.
The general requirements cover the red alarm confirmation lamp (clearly visible from 6 m under ambient light up to 500 lx), connection of ancillary devices, protection of factory settings, on-site adjustment of response behaviour, detachable detectors, control software documentation, design and data storage, and instructions for use.
Response thresholds are measured on a dedicated apparatus with a 2 m optical rail and a methane flame source; the test programme on 10 specimens comprises 23 tests, among them consistency, repeatability, directional dependence, ambient light interference, climatic, corrosion, insulation, vibration, shock and impact tests, electromagnetic immunity tests to GB/T 17626 and the fire sensitivity test.
It replaces GB 12791-1991, partly adopting the technical requirements of EN 54-10, adding EMC, damp heat (endurance) and vibration (endurance) tests, changing the shock and fire sensitivity test methods, and adding inspection rules and requirements for the instructions for use.

Foreword
Chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6 of this standard are mandatory; the rest is recommended.
This standard is a revision of GB 12791-1991 Performance requirements and test methods for point type ultraviolet flame detectors. It makes reference to the European standard EN 54-10 Fire detection and fire alarm systems - Part 10: Flame detectors.
Compared with GB 12791-1991, the main changes in this standard are as follows:
- the technical requirements of the European standard EN 54-10 have been partly adopted;
- the radiated radio-frequency electromagnetic field immunity test, the immunity test to conducted disturbances induced by radio-frequency fields, the electrostatic discharge immunity test, the electrical fast transient/burst immunity test, the surge immunity test, the damp heat, steady state (endurance) test and the vibration (sinusoidal) (endurance) test have been added;
- the test methods of the shock test and the fire sensitivity test have been changed;
- requirements for inspection rules and for the instructions for use have been added.
From its date of implementation, this standard replaces GB 12791-1991.
