Scope
GB 11174-2025 is the English-translated version of 液化石油气.
GB 11174-2025 specifies the classification and designation, requirements and test methods, inspection rules, marking, storage, transport and sample retention of liquefied petroleum gases produced by refineries and oil and gas fields for use as industrial, domestic and vehicle fuel.
Industrial and domestic LPG is divided into commercial propane, commercial butane and propane-butane mixture, with limits on vapour pressure at 37.8 °C, hydrocarbon composition, 1,3-butadiene (<= 0.3%), dimethyl ether (<= 0.5%), residue, copper corrosion, sulfur (<= 200 mg/m3), hydrogen sulfide and free water.
Vehicle LPG is graded No. -10, -5, 0, 10 and 20 by the temperature at which the minimum gauge vapour pressure is 200 kPa, with requirements including MON >= 89.0, propane >= 20%, diolefins <= 0.5%, sulfur <= 30 mg/kg, evaporation residue <= 60 mg/kg and a detectable odour at 20% of the lower explosive limit; annexes cover odorisation, composition analysis, vapour pressure, octane number and odour testing.
It replaces GB 11174-2011 and GB 19159-2012, merging the vehicle LPG standard into this one, adding terms, 1,3-butadiene, dimethyl ether and propane items, tightening sulfur limits and setting referee methods.
