NB/T 20450.3-2017 is part 3 of the alternative welding code for mechanical components of pressurized water reactor nuclear islands and deals with welding procedure qualification.

It sets the qualification rules, test methods and acceptance criteria for butt and fillet weld procedures, special weld procedures, hardfacing and corrosion resistant surfacing, heat exchange tube to tubesheet welding and temper bead welding.

The processes within its reach include manual metal arc welding (111), submerged arc welding (12), tungsten inert gas welding (141), gas shielded metal arc welding (131 and 135), flux cored arc welding (136 and 137), plasma arc welding (15), electron beam welding (51), laser welding (52) and electroslag surfacing (72).

It is used with the other parts of the series, and quotes GB/T 226, GB/T 19866 and NB/T 20328-2015. Issued on 1 April 2017, it has applied since 1 October 2017.
