NB/T 20450.2-2017 is the recommended Chinese energy industry standard for the welding filler materials used under the alternative welding code for mechanical components of pressurized water reactor nuclear islands.

It defines what counts as a batch and sets the mechanical property tests, the chemical analysis and the determination of delta-ferrite content, together with the rules for keeping and storing the consumables.

It covers electrodes, welding wires, strips, filler rods and fluxes for the welding and surfacing of carbon steel, low alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel and nickel base alloy in nuclear island machinery and equipment, but not wear resistant surfacing.

It is applied with GB/T 1954-2008, GB/T 3375-1994, GB/T 5185-2005 and GB/T 25778-2010 and with the NB/T 20009 parts. Issued on 1 April 2017, it has applied since 1 October 2017.
