NB/T 20450.4-2017 carries part 4 of the alternative welding code for mechanical components of pressurized water reactor nuclear islands, on production welds and heat treatment.

It covers the storage and use of welding consumables during the manufacture and installation of nuclear island machinery and equipment, groove preparation, the welding method, surface cleanliness and protection, the requirements for product welds, attachment welding and weld rework.

Heat treatment connected with welding forms the other half of its content, taking in preheating, post-heating and stress relief treatment. It applies to the welding and the welding-related heat treatment of nuclear island machinery and equipment.

It is read with the other parts of NB/T 20450 and quotes GB/T 3375, GB/T 5185, GB/T 19866, NB/T 20005.32 and NB/T 20006.31. Issued on 1 April 2017, it has applied since 1 October 2017.
