Scope
GBZ 2.2-2007 is the English-translated version of 工作场所有害因素职业接触限值 第2部分:物理因素.
GBZ 2.2-2007 is the Chinese occupational health standard that fixes the exposure limits for physical agents at work: ultra-high-frequency radiation, high-frequency electromagnetic fields, power-frequency electric fields, laser, microwave and ultraviolet radiation, heat stress, noise and hand-transmitted vibration, together with meteorological requirements for underground coal mines, the classification of physical workload and physiological limits on heart rate and energy expenditure. It applies to every kind of workplace where physical agents are present, for monitoring and evaluating exposure, checking protective measures, industrial hygiene design and occupational health inspection; it does not cover non-occupational exposure. Chapters 13 to 15 are recommended, the rest mandatory. Together with GBZ 2.1 it replaces GBZ 2-2002.

Foreword
Chapter 13, Chapter 14 and Chapter 15 of this Part are recommendatory provisions; the remainder are mandatory provisions.
In this revision, GBZ 2-2002 "Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace" is divided into GBZ 2.1 "Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace — Part 1: Chemical Hazardous Agents" and GBZ 2.2 "Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace — Part 2: Physical Agents". From the date of implementation of this Part, the corresponding contents of GBZ 2-2002 shall be abolished.
Compared with GBZ 2-2002, the main changes in this Part are as follows:
— the classification of work in high-temperature environments and the hygienic evaluation criteria for the meteorological conditions of high-temperature workplaces have been deleted;
— exposure limits for non-ionizing radiation, namely power-frequency electric fields, ultra-high frequency radiation, high frequency electromagnetic fields and microwave radiation, as well as exposure limits for noise, have been added;
— the exposure limits for high temperature and for hand-transmitted vibration have been adjusted;
— the measurement methods for physical agents in the workplace have been revised into an independent standard, GBZ/T 189-2007 "Measurement of Physical Agents in Workplace";
— Chapter 13, Chapter 14 and Chapter 15 have been changed into recommendatory provisions.
Annex A of this Part is a normative annex; Annex B is an informative annex.
This Part was proposed by the Specialized Committee for Occupational Health Standards of the Ministry of Health.
This Part was approved by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China.

1 Scope
This Part specifies the occupational exposure limits for physical agents in the workplace.
This Part applies to all types of workplaces in which physical agents are present or generated. It applies to the monitoring, evaluation and management of workplace sanitary conditions, working conditions, the degree of workers' exposure to physical agents, leakage from production installations and the effectiveness of protective measures, as well as to the industrial enterprise sanitary design and occupational health supervision and inspection.
This Part does not apply to non-occupational exposure.
