Scope
GB/T 5907.5-2015 is the English-translated version of 消防词汇 第5部分:消防产品.
Part 5 of China's fire protection vocabulary, the terminology of fire products, and the largest part of the series - the one that names every piece of equipment the fire industry makes, sells, certifies and installs. This part establishes the terms and definitions used for fire protection products, and it is the reference behind the naming in the product standards, in the type approval and certification documents and in the catalogues and tenders that quote them. The range it covers is the whole of the industry's output: the detection and alarm products, from the detectors of each sensing principle through the control and indicating equipment to the sounders and the transmission devices; the fixed extinguishing systems and their components, sprinkler, water spray, water mist, foam, gas, dry powder and aerosol, with the valves, nozzles, pipework, storage containers and control devices that make them up; the water supply products, the pumps, hydrants, hose, couplings, branchpipes and monitors; the portable and wheeled extinguishers and the extinguishing media in them; the passive products, the fire doors and shutters, the dampers, the penetration seals, the fire resistant glazing and the coatings and materials; the smoke and heat control products; the emergency lighting and evacuation signage; the personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus; and the fire appliances and rescue tools. Because a product standard is written around the name of the thing it governs, and because certification and market surveillance both depend on knowing exactly what is being certified, this part is cited far more often than a vocabulary usually is. The general terms are in Part 1. Issued on 15 May 2015 and in force since 1 August 2015.
