Scope

GB/T 5121.26-2008 is the English-translated version of 铜及铜合金化学分析方法 第26部分:汞含量的测定.

GB/T 5121.26-2008 is Part 26 of GB/T 5121, the series of 27 parts on methods for chemical analysis of copper and copper alloys, and it specifies the determination of mercury content.

Clause 1 states that the part applies to the determination of mercury content in copper and copper alloys over a measurement range of 0.0001% to 0.15%. The clauses the page shows are the scope, the principle of the method, the reagents and materials and the instrument.

The principle is to decompose the sample with a mixed acid, reduce the excess oxidant with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, reduce divalent mercury to metallic mercury with stannous chloride under acidic conditions and then, at room temperature and with air as the carrier gas, lead the mercury atoms into a mercury vapour meter for measurement.

The reagents and materials clause makes the mixed acid from two volumes of nitric acid (1+1) and one volume of hydrochloric acid (1+1) and lists potassium dichromate solution at 10 g/L, potassium permanganate solution at 50 g/L, hydroxylamine hydrochloride at 100 g/L, stannous chloride at 100 g/L, a mercury absorbing liquid of equal volumes of potassium permanganate at 10 g/L and sulfuric acid at 1.8 mol/L, a mercury standard stock solution containing 100 micrograms of mercury per millilitre with its two further dilutions, and mercury reducing bottles of 20 mL, 30 mL and 80 mL with ground mouths and an automatic closure float.

The instrument clause calls for an intelligent mercury analyser with a GP3 type mercury lamp and sets a detection limit no greater than 0.05 x 10^-9 g/mL; the draft on the page breaks off at that point, so the analytical procedure, the calculation of results and any precision provisions are not shown. It was issued on 17 June 2008 and has applied since 1 December 2008.

Part is divided into 26 sections.

1 Scope

This section specifies the determination of copper and copper alloy of mercury content.

This section applies to the determination of copper and copper alloy of mercury content. Measurement range. 0.0001% to 0.15%.

2 Principle of the method

Sample mixed acid decomposition, reduction of excess oxidant with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, under acidic conditions, using stannous chloride reduction of divalent mercury into gold Genus mercury.

At room temperature using air as a carrier gas, and the resulting mercury atoms import mercury vapor meter were measured.

3 Reagents and materials

Unless otherwise indicated in the analysis using only recognized as analytical grade reagents and distilled or deionized water or equivalent purity.

3.1 Sulfate (rho 1.84g/mL) pure class distinctions.

3.2 Nitrate (rho 1.42g/mL) pure class distinctions.

3.3 Hydrochloric acid (rho 1.19g/mL) pure class distinctions.

3.4 Mixed acid. 2 per unit volume of nitric acid (1 + 1) and a unit volume of hydrochloric acid (1 + 1) were mixed.

3.5 Potassium dichromate solution (10g/L).

3.6 Potassium permanganate solution (50g/L).

3.7 Hydroxylamine hydrochloride solution (100g/L).

3.8 Stannous chloride solution (100g/L). Weigh 10.0g stannous chloride, dissolved in 10mL hydrochloric acid (3.3), and transferred to 100mL volumetric flask The diluted with water to volume, and mix.

3.9 Liquid mercury absorption. [KMnO4 (10g/L) and H2SO4 (1.8mol/L) mixed with an equal volume].

3.10 Mercury standard stock solution. Weigh 0.1354g previously dried over phosphorus pentoxide 24h mercury dichloride, dissolved in a little water, and 50mL of nitric acid (3.2), 10mL potassium dichromate solution (3.5), water volume 1000mL, and mix. This solution 1mL containing 100µg mercury (The standard storage solution is valid for five months).

3.11 Mercury standard solution A. Pipette 10.00mL mercury standard stock solution (3.10) in 100mL flask, add 5mL nitric acid (3.2), 1mL potassium dichromate solution (3.5) with water to volume, and mix. This solution 1mL containing 10µg mercury (this is valid for a standard solution month).

3.12 Mercury standard solution B. Pipette 1.00mL mercury standard solution A (3.11) in 100mL flask, add 1mL potassium dichromate (3.5) with water to volume, and mix. This solution 1mL containing 0.1µg of mercury (when treated with existing service).

3.13 Mercury reducer. size is 20mL, 30mL, 80mL, with grinding mouth, reducing bottle equipped with automatic closure float.

3.14 Mercury absorber.

4 Instrument
