Scope
GB/T 5003-2023 is the English-translated version of 日用陶瓷器釉面耐化学腐蚀性的测定方法.
GB/T 5003-2023 is the Chinese national test method for the chemical corrosion resistance of the glaze on domestic ceramics.
The glazed surface is exposed to chemical solutions - citric acid at 100 g/L and hydrochloric acid at 20% mass fraction, made up with grade three water - at room temperature and under heating; the colour of the glaze is measured before and after corrosion with a spectrophotometer against a ceramic standard white board, and the resistance is graded from the largest colour difference reached within the corrosion cycle.
Its clauses cover the principle, reagents and materials, apparatus, sample requirements, the room-temperature and the heated procedure, data processing, the performance rating and the test report.
Among the standards it quotes is GB/T 3979. It replaces GB/T 5003-1999, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 1 December 2023.

b) Changed the terms and definitions (see Chapter 3, Chapter 2 of the 1999 edition);
c) Added principles (see Chapter 4);
d) Changes to reagents or materials (see Chapter 5, Chapter 3 of the 1999 edition);
e) Changed the equipment (see Chapter 6, Chapter 4 of the 1999 edition);
f) Changed the sample requirements (see Chapter 7, Chapter 5 of the 1999 edition);
g) Added technical requirements for water (see 5.1);
h) The test procedure at room temperature has been changed (see 8.1, Chapter 6 of the 1999 edition);
i) Added technical requirements for spectrophotometer (see 6.1);
j) The technical requirements for ceramic standard whiteboards have been added (see 6.2);
k) Added heating test steps (see 8.2);
l) Increased test data processing (see Chapter 9);
m) Changed the performance evaluation (see Chapter 10, Chapter 7 of the 1999 edition);
n) The test report has been changed (see Chapter 11, Chapter 8 of the 1999 edition).
1 Scope
This document describes the method and method for the determination of the chemical corrosion resistance of glazed ceramics for daily use characterized by color difference deltaEab* at room temperature and under heating conditions. performance evaluation.
This document is applicable to the determination of the chemical corrosion resistance of glazed surfaces of household ceramics.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. 4 Principles
Under different temperature conditions, after a certain period of time, the glazed surface of daily-use ceramic samples will be corroded by chemical test solution, and the color will change to varying degrees.
The color difference of the glaze surface before and after the corrosion of the sample is measured by an instrument; and the color difference within the corrosion cycle is measured according to the internationally recognized color difference judgment criteria.
The maximum value of the glaze color difference deltaEab(max) is evaluated to obtain the grade of the chemical corrosion resistance of the glazed surface of the test sample.
5 Reagents or Materials
Unless otherwise specified, use only analytical grade reagents and above.
5.1 Water, GB/T 6682, Class III.
5.2 Citric acid solution, 100g/L.
5.3 Hydrochloric acid solution, 20% (mass fraction).
