Scope
GB/T 34254-2025 is the English-translated version of 日用陶瓷把手、装饰材料牢固度测试方法.
GB/T 34254-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering whether the handle of a mug will come off and whether the pattern will survive the kitchen — the staining check that finds cracks before the test, the tensile, compressive and moving-load methods with the force set by the vessel's volume, the acetic acid and sodium carbonate immersion that attacks the decoration, the cross-cut and tape pull that measures how much of it lifts, and the grading of the result. It replaces GB/T 34254-2017, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 34254-2017.

Daily-use ceramic handles, decorative materials Firmness test method
1 Scope
This document describes the test methods for the durability of handles on everyday ceramic ware and the durability of decorative materials for everyday ceramic ware.
This document applies to the testing of handle firmness in everyday ceramic products with handles.
This document applies to the testing of the durability of decorative materials on glazed ceramic products for daily use.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 5000 apply to this document.
4 Handle sturdiness
4.1 Principle
By applying appropriate force or load to the handle of daily-use ceramics, observe whether cracks or damage appear on the ceramic products to determine their condition. Handle sturdiness.
4.2 Schematic diagram of handle firmness test

4.3 Instruments and Materials
4.3.1 Tension/compression sensor. A tension/compression sensor with a range of 0N~500N and an accuracy of 0.05% of full scale (FS).
4.3.2 Staining solutions (such as ink, methylene blue solution, etc.) and brushes.
4.3.3 Filler. with a bulk density of (1.5±0.2) g/cm3 (such as space sand).
4.3.4 Glass graduated cylinders. graduation values are 1 mL, 5 mL and 10 mL respectively.
4.4 Samples
For each testing method, at least three samples of the same type should be taken, and the samples should be free of cracks, damage, or defects.
4.5 Test Procedure
4.5.1 Pre-test inspection
Apply a suitable staining solution (4.3.2) to the sample surface, and after it dries slightly, wipe off the staining solution. Then, irradiate the sample from a distance of 25cm to 35cm.
Visually inspected at approximately 300 lx, samples without cracks or defects were selected as test specimens.
4.5.2 Static Loading Method
4.5.2.1 Apply the appropriate force to the sample handle according to the volume of the sample, as shown in Table 1.
Table 1.Stress values for volumetric forces Volume/mL < 100 100~300 301~600 601~1000 1001~2000 >2000 Force value/N. 40 70 100 120 150 180 4.5.2.2 Fix the specimen on the test bench and apply a corresponding tensile force at the center of the main body. When the tensile sensor reading reaches the specified value... Keep it for 10 minutes.
4.5.2.3 After the test, remove the samples, observe the damage, and record the test results. At least three identical samples should be taken for each type of product. Batch sample testing.
4.5.2.4 Fix the sample on the test bench and apply appropriate pressure at the center of the main body. When the pressure sensor reading reaches the specified value... Keep it for 10 minutes.
4.5.2.5 After the test, remove the samples, observe the damage, and record the test results. At least three identical samples should be taken for each type of product. Batch sample testing.
4.5.3 Motion Loading Method
4.5.3.1 Seal the sample after filling it with the filler (4.2.4).
4.5.3.2 Fix the specimen on the test bench and make the specimen reciprocate up and down and left and right with an acceleration of 5 m/s2 and a distance of 300 mm. 50 times.
4.5.3.3 After the test, remove the samples, observe the damage, and record the test results. At least three identical samples should be taken for each type of product. Batch sample testing.
4.6 Results Representation
4.6.1 Static loading method. Record the corresponding force and damage condition of each specimen.
4.6.2 Motion loading method. Record the corresponding load weight of each specimen and the damage condition after motion.
5 Determination of the strength of decorative materials
5.1 Principle
By immersing everyday ceramic decorative materials in acid or alkaline solutions and performing cross-cut adhesion tests, the erosion marks and the area of decorative surface peeling were observed.
(s), determine the durability level of its decorative materials.
5.2 Equipment and Materials
5.2.1 Acetic acid with a volume fraction of 4%. Take 40 mL of glacial acetic acid with a density of 1.05 g/cm3 and dilute it with distilled water to 1000 mL.
5.2.2 Sodium carbonate solution with a mass fraction of 5%. Weigh 5g of sodium carbonate and dissolve it in 95g of distilled water.
5.2.3 Standard cutting tools. The material is martensitic stainless steel, and the blade hardness should not be less than 45HRC.
5.2.4 Pressure-sensitive tape. Adhesive strength is 47N/100mm.
5.2.5 Oven. The temperature difference of the working area can be controlled within ±5°C.
5.2.6 Constant temperature chamber. The temperature difference of the working area can be controlled within ±2°C.
5.3 Sample
Six overglaze decorated products.
5.4 Steps
5.4.1 Immerse each of the three samples in freshly prepared 4% acetic acid solution (the volume of the acid solution should cover half of the color patch), and cover them with a glass plate or...
Seal with plastic wrap, soak at room temperature for 24 hours, then rinse with clean water and air dry.
5.4.2 Immerse each of the three samples in freshly prepared 5% sodium carbonate solution (the volume of the alkali solution should cover half of the color patch), and cover them with a glass plate.
Alternatively, seal it with plastic wrap, soak it in a constant temperature chamber at (60±2)°C for 24 hours, then wash it with clean water and air dry it.
5.4.3 Place the sample in an oven at (100±5)°C to dry, and then remove it and cool it to room temperature.
5.4.4 When visually inspecting whether there is an obvious color change in the sample, visually inspect at a distance of 25mm~35mm from the sample under an illuminance of about 300lx.
5.4.5 Using a standard tool, score the decorative surface with 10mm intervals on both the horizontal and vertical sides to form a 100-grid pattern. Then apply the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.
Starting from the edge of the grid, parallel to one set of lines, slowly press the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape onto the grid, gently touching and pressing with your finger to ensure the tape adheres to the test area.
No residual air bubbles were found between the samples. After flattening, wait (90±30) seconds, press the sample down with your left hand, and pinch the free end of the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape with your right hand, then press in the opposite direction for approximately...
