Scope
GB/T 4946-2008 is the English-translated version of 气相色谱法 术语.
GB/T 4946-2008 specifies the terms of gas chromatography, covering general terms, instruments, the stationary and mobile phases, chromatographic parameters, chromatograms and other items, together with the symbols.
Clause 1 states that the standard applies to gas chromatography, and the page records no exclusion.
Clause 2, general terms, carries nine entries numbered 2.1 to 2.9, but the draft on this page prints only their definitions and not their term names, so they can be told apart here only by what they define: chromatography that uses a gas as the mobile phase and separates the components of a sample through the difference in their partition coefficients between the two phases; a stationary phase coated on a carrier; a solid, usually an adsorbent, used as the stationary phase; the use of a packed column; a column heated continuously in stages according to a predetermined programme; the case in which a chemical reaction is made to take place before the column, in the column or in a post-column reaction zone; the case in which the sample is first cleaved into smaller molecules by heat, laser or arc before entering the column; the analysis of the gaseous components that stand in thermodynamic equilibrium with a liquid or solid sample in a closed system, as an indirect measurement of its volatile components; and the use of a capillary column of high separation efficiency.
The draft breaks off at entry 2.9, so the page shows nothing of the clauses that follow and gives no table of contents.
The foreword lists the additions made against the 1985 edition by number, among them 3.1.4.1 two-dimensional gas chromatograph (GC + GC), 3.1.4.2 comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC), 3.1.7 gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC-MS), 3.1.8 GC - FTIR spectrometer (GC-FTIR), 3.5.3 film thickness, 3.5.7 column lifetime, 3.6.4.5.1 pulsed flame photometric detector (PFPD), 3.6.4.7 atomic emission detector (AED), 3.6.4.8 MS detector (MSD) and 6.13 percentage peak area method, and it states that in chapter 7 the symbol for reference material was replaced by internal standard and that Appendix A and Appendix B are normative.
The foreword also states that the standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, that it was drafted by the China Inspection and Quarantine Science Research Institute and the Chemical Institute of Standardization, and that it was first published in 1985 and revised here for the first time.
It replaces GB/T 4946-1985, was issued on 2008-06-18 and has applied since 2009-02-01.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the general term gas chromatography, instruments, fixed and mobile phases, chromatographic parameters, chromatograms and other symbols.
This standard applies to gas chromatography.
2 General terms
2.1
Gas is used as the mobile phase chromatography. It uses material phase difference between the stationary phase partition coefficient in the flow, when the two-phase relative Exercise, sample components between the two phases were repeated allocation, distribution coefficients of the components, even if only slightly different, with the mobile phase (Gas) to be moving distance of the last components of the sample to obtain separation and determination.
2.2
The stationary phase coated on the carrier as a stationary phase in gas chromatography.
2.3
Solid (usually adsorbent) as a stationary phase by gas chromatography.
2.4
Using a packed column gas chromatography. […]
2.5
Column or heated by gas chromatography in accordance with a predetermined program continuously in stages.
2.6
After the first sample column, the column or post-column reaction zone, the chemical reaction of gas chromatography.
2.7
After the sample temperature, laser, arc and other means, after cleavage of smaller molecules into the column gas chromatography, gas chromatography reaction A.
2.8
Analysis by gas chromatography in a closed system with a liquid (or solid) samples in thermodynamic equilibrium of gaseous components, is an indirect measure A method of volatile components of a given sample.
2.9
Having a high separation efficiency of capillary column gas chromatography.
