Scope
GB/T 37118-2018 is the English-translated version of 地理实体空间数据规范.
GB/T 37118-2018 specifies how spatial data on geographic entities are modelled and organised. Its conceptual model treats a geographic entity, identified by an entity code (EntiID), as made up of one or more primitives - generally points, lines, surfaces or bodies - each identified by an element code (ElemID) and classified according to GB/T 13923.
It also covers data organisation, the basic rules for geometric expression and the data content of geographic entities, with normative annexes on data scale, entity type and geometry type codes and on the encoding rules for geographic entity identification codes.
It applies to the acquisition, processing and application services of geographic entity spatial data. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 28 December 2018.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the conceptual model of geographic entity spatial data, data organization, basic rules of geometric expression and geographic entity data content.
This standard applies to the acquisition, processing and application services of spatial data in geographic entities.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Geographic entity
An independent natural or artificial feature with spatial location and common attributes in the real world.
3.2 Primitive
A geometric object that represents a single, connected, and common attribute element within a space.
Note: Generally, it is point, line, surface, and body.
4 Conceptual model
The conceptual model of geographic entity spatial data is shown in Figure 1, which is described as follows.
a) The primitive is the constituent unit of the geographic entity and is uniquely identified by the element identification code (ElemID). The information classification code of the primitive represents The relationship between the basic geographic information elements and the implementation of GB/T 13923.
b) A geographic entity consists of one or more primitives, uniquely identified by an EntiID. One primitive can belong to one One or more geographic entities.
