GB/T 3565.9-2022 is the English-translated version of 自行车安全要求 第9部分:鞍座与鞍管试验方法.

GB/T 3565.9-2022 covers the bench tests for bicycle saddles and seat-posts - the clamping test that checks the saddle stays where it was set on the post and the post where it was set in the frame, the static load strength of the saddle itself, a fatigue test on the saddle and seat-post assembly, and a two-stage test in which the seat-post is first cycled in fatigue and then, on the same part, loaded statically to strength. That sequence is the point of the clause: a component that passes a strength test while new says little about one that has already absorbed a season of road shock, and seat-posts fail after long service rather than on the first hard landing. GB (/T) 3565 "Safety Requirements for Bicycles" was drafted according to the safety requirements of bicycle products.
