GB/T 3565.4-2022 is the part of the series that gives the test methods for bicycle brakes — the grip dimensions, measured with a gauge placed on the handlebar or grip and on the brake lever, the position at which force is applied to the lever, the assembly safety test on brake shoes and brake discs, the strength tests for hand-operated and for foot-operated braking systems, the braking performance test, and the heat resistance test. The part carries no acceptance values of its own: the requirements sit in GB 3565.2, and the bicycle types covered are the ones named there. Fixing the method is what makes those requirements mean anything. A lever loaded at a different point along its length, or a grip span wider than a rider can actually close, yields a stopping figure no other laboratory can reproduce, and a brake that performs when cold can lose its grip on a long descent once the shoe or the disc has heated — which is why the heat resistance test is separate from the performance test. Terms come from GB/T 3565.1. Used by bicycle and brake component manufacturers, test laboratories, certification bodies and market surveillance authorities.

This document is modified to adopt ISO 4210-4.2014 "Safety requirements for bicycles and two-wheeled bicycles - Part 4.Test methods for brakes".
The technical differences between this document and ISO 4210-4.2014 and their reasons are as follows.
--- Replaced ISO 4210-1 with the normatively quoted GB/T 3565.1 to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability (see
Clause 3, Clause 3 of ISO 4210-4.2014);
--- In the "Measurement method of C-type brake handle", the inspection method of "brake handle with position adjustment" is added, which is consistent with GB 3565.2;
Changed the "Installation method of the gauge in C-type brake handle and handle bar in Figure 4" to correct the error in the original figure (see 4.1.2, Figure 4, ISO 4210-4.

---In the "dry state test" of the "testing machine test method", change the operating force from "completely applied within 1s" to "0.5s after the brake is activated"

4 Test method
4.1 Grip Dimensions
4.1.1 Measurement method of A-type or B-type brake handle
Place the gauge shown in Figure 1 on the grip of the handlebar or the handlebar (when the manufacturer does not install the grip) and on the brake lever, as shown in Figure 2.
As shown, make surface A close to the outer surface of the handlebar (or handlebar) and the brake handle. The B side is equivalent to the rider's fingers touching the brake handle.
