Scope
GB/T 3565.3-2022 is the English-translated version of 自行车安全要求 第3部分:一般试验方法.
GB/T 3565.3-2022 is the test method part of the GB 3565 bicycle safety series, the set of procedures that the requirement parts call up whenever they state a limit. It covers braking and strength testing, the front fender test, the road test of a fully assembled bicycle, the durability test for markings, fatigue testing and the separate fatigue procedure for parts made of composite materials, impact testing, and the ambient temperature at which components of plastic material are tested. Two informative annexes deal with the structural integrity of a fully assembled bicycle and with verifying free fall velocity. Test methods are written down separately because a requirement is only as reproducible as the procedure behind it: a fatigue limit means nothing unless the load, the number of cycles, the fixture and the criterion for failure are the same in the maker's laboratory and in the buyer's. Plastic and composite parts make the point sharply, since the same fork or handlebar can pass or fail depending on the temperature of the test room and on whether the composite has been cycled in the way its construction demands. Manufacturers, component suppliers, independent test houses and certification bodies working to GB 3565.2 use it, with terminology taken from ISO 4201-1.
