Scope

GB/T 33578.4-2026 is the English-translated version of 成套装置基于风险的检验细则 第4部分:槽式光热装置.

GB/T 33578.4-2026 is Part 4 of the series of rules for risk-based inspection of complete units, and it deals with parabolic trough solar thermal power plants.

It sets general guidelines for risk-based inspection (RBI) of trough-type solar thermal devices and describes the general process, the distribution of damage modes for the equipment, and risk assessment.

Defined terms include molten salt corrosion and the thermal fatigue and dust climate sub-factors. Appendices give a brief introduction to the process flow and a damage mode distribution flowchart.

It applies to inspection of pressure-bearing equipment in trough-type solar thermal systems, and other types of solar thermal systems may use it as a reference.

Issued on 2 July 2026 and applicable from 1 February 2027, it is a new part and replaces no earlier edition.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document is Part 4 of GB/T 33578 "Risk-Based Inspection Guidelines for Complete Equipment". GB/T 33578 has been published as follows. Part 2.

---Part 1: Ethylene Plant;

---Part 2: Catalytic Cracking Unit;

---Part 3: Chlor-alkali Chemical Plant;

---Part 4: Parabolic Trough Solar Thermal Device.

Introduction

GB/T 26610, "Guidelines for Risk-Based Inspection of Pressure Equipment Systems," provides guidelines for risk-based inspection of pressure equipment in chemical engineering plants.

The general requirements for inspection, to facilitate the engineering application of risk-based inspection methods in typical key chemical plants, are formulated in GB/T 33578. "Risk-Based Inspection Guidelines for Complete Equipment Sets". GB/T 33578 consists of four parts.

---Part 1: Ethylene Unit. The purpose is to provide a damage distribution map of the ethylene unit and the damage modes of key equipment, clarifying the damage patterns of the ethylene unit.

The inspection methods for the ethylene plant were developed, forming a risk-based inspection guideline.

---Part 2: Catalytic Cracking Unit. The purpose is to provide a damage distribution map of the catalytic cracking unit and the damage modes of key equipment, clarifying... Establish inspection methods for catalytic cracking units and develop risk-based inspection guidelines for catalytic cracking units.

---Part 3: Chlor-alkali Chemical Plant. The purpose is to provide damage distribution maps and damage modes of key equipment in chlor-alkali chemical plants, clarifying... Establish inspection methods for chlor-alkali chemical plants and formulate risk-based inspection guidelines for chlor-alkali chemical plants.

---Part 4: Parallel Solar Thermal Unit. The purpose is to provide a damage distribution map of the parallel solar thermal unit and the damage modes of key equipment, clarifying... The risk assessment and inspection methods for trough-type solar thermal devices are determined, and risk-based inspection guidelines for trough-type solar thermal devices are formulated.

1 Scope

This document establishes general guidelines for risk-based inspection (RBI) of trough-type solar thermal devices, describing the general process and device damage mode classification. Fabrication, risk assessment, and risk-based inspection procedures.

This document applies to the inspection of pressure-bearing equipment in trough-type solar thermal systems that have undergone RBI projects. Other types of solar thermal systems can refer to this document for further information.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents, through normative references within the text, constitute essential provisions of this document. Dated citations are not included.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 26610.1~GB/T 26610.5 and GB/T 30579, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 Molten salt corrosion

When a metal comes into contact with a high-temperature molten salt, the metal surface material is lost due to chemical reactions or electrochemical effects.

3.2 Thermal fatigue sub-factor

(110°C), a technical module factor that triggers alternating thermal stress and causes mechanical damage to equipment.

3.3 Dust climate sub-factor

Dust storms caused contamination of the mirrors in the trough-type solar thermal unit and blockage of rotating mirror components, leading to a shift in the mirror field's focus and resulting in thermal shock and other damage to the equipment. Common conditional factors for fluctuations in production processes.
