1 Scope
1.1 Overview
This part of "Insulation coordination" gives the insulation coordination procedures for high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations without standard insulation levels
Guidelines.
This section only applies to high-voltage AC power system in the high-voltage DC part, but not for industrial use commutation equipment. Given
Principles and rules apply only to the purpose of insulation. This section does not involve the requirements of personal safety.
1.2 Background Description
High-voltage DC converter station converter thyristor valve series or parallel composition, and the commutation process using a unique control and protection,
Compared with the AC substation, therefore, the overvoltage protection of the equipment made special requirements. This section gives the withstand voltage, DC
Voltage, harmonic voltage and surge voltage converter station equipment over voltage and insulation with the program. Proposed series or parallel arrester protection water
Flat, optimize the configuration of the arrester program. Examples of insulation coordination for conventional and back-to-back DC converter stations are given (see Appendix B, Appendix C).
This section describes the converter substation and conventional substation in the insulation with the basic principles and design goals difference.
This section only relates to the current gapless metal oxide surge arresters for overvoltage protection of HVDC converter stations. Arrester base is given
This characteristic, requirement and the calculation process of the maximum over-voltage in operation; put forward a typical arrester configuration scheme, arrester stress and determine the
Method of stress.
This section includes the converter station exchange field (excluding AC lines) and DC field equipment insulation coordination. Due to line and cable commutation
Station equipment with the impact of insulation, it is also included.
Although this section is used for ordinary HVDC system (commutating voltage from the AC filter bus), but the main principle of insulation fit
For use in Appendix C, Capacitor Commutation (CCC) Converters and Controllable Series Compensators (CSCC), and Appendix E for some specific converter configurations.
This section discusses the insulation coordination of the Line Commutated Converter (LCC). This section does not include flexible DC voltage source converter
(VSC).
