Scope
GB/T 28848-2012 is the English-translated version of 智能气体流量计.
GB/T 28848-2012 is the national standard for the gas meter that corrects its own readings. An ordinary meter counts the volume that passes through it, and volume is a poor proxy for the quantity anyone is actually buying: the same cubic metre of gas holds different amounts of energy at different temperatures and pressures. An intelligent meter carries the sensors and the electronics to make that correction as it measures, which is why it is the instrument on which custody transfer increasingly depends and why what it is allowed to do needs writing down. The standard covers meters measuring gas flow in a closed conduit that carry an electronic correction device, and sets out the terminology and symbols, the structure of the instrument, the requirements it must meet, the test equipment and test methods, the inspection rules, and the provisions for marking, packaging, transport and storage. Prepaid meters with a control device are outside its scope. It sits under ICS 17.120.10, flow measurement, and CCS N12, and it is written for meter manufacturers, gas utilities and the metrology institutes that verify what a meter reports before it is allowed to bill a customer.

It sits under ICS 17.120.10, flow measurement, and CCS N12, and it is written for meter manufacturers, gas utilities and the metrology institutes that verify what a meter reports before it is allowed to bill a customer.
This standard specifies the smart gas meter (hereinafter referred to as meter) terminology, symbols, structure, requirements, test equipment, test methods, inspection Inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to the measurement of gas flow in closed conduits and having an electronic meter correction device. This standard does not apply to pre-paid meter control device.
