3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 18391.1 and GB/T 19710.1, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 Information resource

Information content generated in various fields such as politics, economics, society, culture, and ecology, possessing diverse carrier forms and development and utilization value.

General term.

3.2 metadata

Data that defines and describes other data.

3.3 metadata element

Independent units of metadata.

Note 1.Metadata elements are unique within a metadata class.

Note 2.Synonymous with attributes and/or associations in UML terminology.
