Scope

GB/T 40208-2021 is the English-translated version of 物流信息资源核心元数据.

GB/T 40208-2021 sets out the core metadata used to describe logistics information resources, meaning the data, files, materials and charts produced in logistics business, service and management and kept in electronic form.

It classifies these resources, specifies a core metadata model in UML and the way each metadata item is described - Chinese name, definition, English name, data type, value range, abbreviation, constraints and maximum number of occurrences - and then describes the metadata entities and elements.

It also gives general rules for extending the core metadata and a code table in a normative annex. It is meant for cataloguing and publishing logistics information resources, building databases and supporting data exchange and query services. It was issued on 21 May 2021 and has applied since 1 December 2021.
