GB/T 25820-2025 is the English-translated version of 包装用钢带.

Steel strapping is widely used to bundle and secure goods for storage and transport, from coils and timber to building materials and machinery. This standard is the product specification for steel strapping for packaging in China, and it is the document purchasers and suppliers use to describe and accept the product.

It is relevant to strapping producers, packaging and logistics companies, exporters who ship heavy or palletised goods, and quality inspectors who verify incoming packaging materials. Steel mills that supply strip to strapping converters may also work from it.

The edition was issued on 28 March 2025 and takes effect on 1 October 2025, replacing GB/T 25820-2018. It is a recommended national standard and therefore voluntary on its own, although supply contracts routinely make such product standards binding between the parties. Companies whose purchase specifications still cite the 2018 edition should review them in light of the new effective date.
