Scope
GB/T 23541-2017 is the English-translated version of 固结磨具 磨钢球砂轮.
GB/T 23541-2017 covers the grinding wheels used to grind steel balls, both vitrified bonded and resinoid bonded. It gives the shape symbol, the dimensions and the marking, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for packing, transport and storage.
A wheel must be free of inclusions, delamination and cracks; the abrasive blasting hardness pit depth of a vitrified wheel must not exceed 0.6 mm and its hardness uniformity 0.15 mm, while the uniformity of a resinoid wheel must not exceed 3 HRC.
Hardness is tested to GB/T 2490, and the normative Annex A gives the Leeb hardness method for resinoid wheels. It replaces GB/T 23541-2009, was issued on 29 December 2017 and has applied since 1 July 2018.

Foreword
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 23541-2009 "Bonded abrasive products - Grinding wheel for steel balls". As compared with GB/T 23541-2009, the main technical changes are as follows.
- MODIFY the scope of application (SEE Chapter 1; Chapter 1 of the 2009 version);
- ADD normative references GB/T 2484 "Bonded abrasive products - General requirements", GB/T 2485 "Bonded abrasive products - Technical specifications", and GB 2494 "Bonded abrasive products - Safety requirements" (SEE Chapter 2);
- ADD the basic dimensions (SEE Table 2 in 3.2), limit deviation (SEE Table 4 in 4.2), geometrical tolerancing (SEE 4.3), hardness value and the test method (SEE 5.2 and Appendix A) of the resinoid bonded grinding wheel for steel balls;
- MODIFY the technical requirements for appearance of vitrified grinding wheel for steel balls (SEE 4.4; 5.4 of the 2009 version);
- MODIFY the marking of grinding wheel (SEE 4.6; Chapter 8 of the 2009 version);
- MODIFY the hardness test method of vitrified grinding wheel for steel balls (SEE 5.2; 6.2 of the 2009 version);
- ADD requirements for transport and storage (SEE Chapter 7).
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the shape symbol, dimensions, marking, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packing, transport, and storage of grinding wheel for steel balls.
This Standard applies to vitrified bonded, resinoid bonded grinding wheel for steel balls (hereinafter known as grinding wheel for short).

4 Technical requirements
4.4 Appearance
The grinding wheel shall be free of any inclusions, delamination, or cracks.
4.5 Hardness
Vitrified bonded grinding wheel for steel balls shall be inspected for hardness compliance and uniformity. The abrasive blasting hardness pit depth value shall not be more than 0.6 mm. The hardness uniformity shall not be more than 0.15 mm. Resinoid bonded grinding wheel for steel balls shall be inspected for hardness uniformity. The uniformity shall not be more than 3 HRC.
4.6 Marking
The marking of grinding wheel shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 2485. The working surface shall be marked.
5 Test methods
5.1 The limit deviation of basic dimensions, geometrical tolerancing, appearance, and marking of grinding wheel shall be inspected in accordance with the provisions of JB/T 7992.
5.2 The hardness of vitrified bonded grinding wheel for steel balls shall be tested according to the provisions of GB/T 2490. The test is carried out with a 28 cm³ sand chamber; the abrasive blasting hardness test is performed 3 times per point; and the 3rd test value is taken as the final hardness value. The hardness uniformity of grinding wheel is the absolute value of the difference between the hardness values of two points. The hardness of resinoid bonded grinding wheel for steel balls shall be tested using a portable Leeb hardness tester. The specific method is as specified in Appendix A.
6 Inspection rules
6.1 The grinding wheel shall, according to the technical requirements of this Standard, be subjected to exit-factory inspection.
6.2 The classification and items for non-conformity shall be in accordance with the provisions of Table 6.
6.3 Sampling plan, discriminating level, and batch quality judgment shall be in accordance with the provisions of JB/T 10450. […]
