Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization - Part 1: Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.

This document serves as a replacement for GB/T 23436-2009 Cleaning Fluids for Automotive Windshield. In comparison with GB/T 23436-2009, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) The terms “original fluids” and “minimum concentration for use” and their definitions are deleted (see Chapter 3 of Version 2009);

b) The technical requirements for the model and freezing point of non-water-repellent products are modified (see Chapter 4; Chapter 4 of Version 2009);

c) The technical requirements and test methods for methanol content are added (see Chapter 4 and Appendix B);

d) The technical requirements and test methods for surface tension and mechanical impurities are added (see Chapter 4);

e) The technical requirements for metal corrosion are modified, and the technical requirements for EPDM rubber test pieces in relation to the impact on rubber are added (see Chapter 4; Chapter 4 of Version 2009);

f) Surface tension, mechanical impurities and water resistance items are added to exit- factory inspection (see 5.3), and the cleaning power and compatibility items at the minimum concentration for use are deleted from exit-factory inspection (see 5.3 of Version 2009);

g) The latest standards and specifications referenced in the test methods, instruments, materials, and reagents for the cleaning power of cleaning fluids are modified (see C.1 and C.2; B.2 and B.3 of Version 2009);

h) The material requirements for metal test pieces in the inspection method for the metal corrosion of cleaning fluids are modified (see E.2.10, D.3.10 of Version 2009);

i) The material requirements for rubber test pieces in the inspection method for the impact of cleaning fluids on rubber are added (see F.2.7);

j) The technical requirements for the test temperature of low-temperature stability in the inspection method for the stability of cleaning fluids are modified (see I.3.2; H.4.2 of Version 2009).

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.

3.1 Cleaning fluids for automotive windshields

Liquids used in conjunction with windshield wipers and washers to remove dirt and grime from the surface of the windshield.

3.2 Non-water-repellent cleaning fluids

Cleaning fluids whose main components are alcohols, water and surface active agents.

3.3 Water-repellent cleaning fluids

Cleaning fluids containing organo-silicone or other similar components, and with hydrophobic properties.

4 Technical Requirements and Test Methods

The cleaning fluids for automotive windshield (hereinafter referred to as the “cleaning fluids”) are classified into non-water-repellent and water-repellent types. The classification and models of the cleaning fluids shall conform to the provisions of Table 1.The technical requirements and test methods for the cleaning fluids shall conform to the provisions of Table 2.

5 Inspection Rules

5.1 Inspection Classification

Inspection is classified into type inspection and exit-factory inspection.

5.2 Type Inspection

5.2.1 Type inspection is a comprehensive evaluation of product quality. Generally, type

inspection shall be conducted once a year.

5.2.2 Type inspection items are all those specified in Table 2.

5.2.3 Under any of the following circumstances, type inspection shall be conducted.

— When the product is finalized and approved;

— When the product is transferred to another manufacturer or production facility;

— During formal production, when significant technical changes occur in raw materials, production processes, or operating procedures that may affect the product structure, performance or intrinsic quality;

— When production resumes after a long period of shutdown;

— When the results of the exit-factory inspection significantly differ from the previous type inspection results, and the factors causing the difference and their impact on product performance cannot be determined.

5.3 Exit-factory Inspection

Exit-factory inspection is the batch-by-batch inspection conducted before product delivery.

Exit-factory inspection items include appearance, freezing point, surface tension, mechanical impurities, pH and water resistance.

5.4 Batching

Under the condition of unchanged raw materials and processes, the production of one or more kettles of uniformly mixed products constitutes one batch.

5.5 Sampling

In accordance with GB/T 4756, take 8 L of samples, or randomly take samples from the packaged products for inspection and as retained samples. ......
