1 Scope

GB/T 22517.3-2024 is the Chinese national standard on technical requirements and test method for sports field - part 3: baseball and softball field, in the field of domestic and commercial equipment, entertainment, sport. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 31 December 2024 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 April 2025. This document specifies the basic structure, appearance, surface, environment, specifications, and facilities requirements for baseball and softball fields (hereinafter referred to as "fields"). The corresponding inspection methods are described and the rules for qualified judgment are established. This document applies to the construction, use, and testing of competitive baseball and softball fields.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Turf area turf An area with natural or artificial grass.

3.2 clayarea; skinnedarea Areas where natural or processed soil is laid.

3.3 infield The area within the grass line and the sideline.

Note. Baseball and softball fields use grass lines to distinguish the infield and outfield.
